Krissa, by Cretan Heritage voted as the Best Greek Olive Oil of 2023/24
On May 20th, the prestigious international competition, the Athena International Olive Oil Competition, announced the results of this year's evaluations
A total of 535 high-quality olive oil samples from 23 countries (including Argentina, Brazil, France, the USA, Italy, China, Turkey, Tunisia, and Chile) competed, and the result of this evaluation crowned Krissa extra premium virgin olive oil as the Best Greek Olive Oil for 2024. The judges at ATHENA are world-renowned experts in the olive oil industry, with two-thirds coming from 13 countries in both the northern and southern hemispheres, and one-third from Greece.
Krissa comes from the "Tsounati variety", which is considered the oldest olive variety in Crete. This is the first time that olive oil from this specific variety has secured a Double Gold Medal at ATHENA, scoring over 95%! Additionally, Krissa claimed two other top awards:
1. Special Award for Best Olive Oil by Country (where at least 5 samples from that country participated)
2. Special Award for Best Greek Olive Oil by Region
After the competition, Mr. Michalis Cheretakis, CEO of "Cretan Heritage", commented:
